Terraseeding is a unique and innovative form of seeding very large areas by automatically mixing composted soils with seed and then applying them to the area by using a pneumatic blower truck. The idea is similar to hydroseeding, in which seed and water are applied simultaneously.

The process of terraseeding has gained a lot of popularity in recent years, as advances in technology have made it more feasible to be used on a wider scale. Here are 7 reasons why terraseeding it’s so beneficial:

#1: Erosion Control

Due to its ease of application, terraseeding makes for a simple and effective solution for erosion control on pond slopes, channels, in parks, along roadways and along other buffer areas. In this way, you can keep specific land formations in place and more effectively seed areas for better long-term erosion control.

#2: Efficiency

The pneumatic blowers that are used in the terraseeding process are typically computerized units that make the application of the seeds and soil extremely efficient. In a single work day, you can seed approximately one acre of land. Growth will begin within seven days of application!

#3: Cost

Terraseeding costs significantly less than other, more traditional manual methods of seeding, and certainly less than sodding. If you have extremely large areas you need to seed, it is difficult to beat the combination of efficiency and cost effectiveness that terraseeding provides.

#4: Customizable

You can customize the seed mixtures you use while terraseeding to meet the local environmental and municipal requirements and specifications. The seeds you decide to use could include a wide variety of grasses, wildflowers, fescues, ryes and other native plants, meaning the resulting seeded area will look completely natural once it has gone through growth.

#5: Seed Protection

Terraseeding is especially unique in that it protects the seeds from harsh suns, heavy winds and local wildlife that might attempt to come through and eat the seeds. This protection leads to a much greater chance of germination, and improves the overall coverage area of the foliage compared to traditional methods.

#6: Moisture Control

By mixing composted soil and seed together before application, you can not only provide better seed protection, but can also get more control over the moisture levels of the soil. Before germination, the seeds are in their most vulnerable stage, and using terraseeding gives them the best chance of germinating and growing into healthy plants.

#7: Get At Less Accessible Areas

The process of using a blower truck makes it easier for you to access and seed areas that would be otherwise difficult to access, especially if you do not want to have to drive the vehicle over a lot of the land area.
